Today, Dr. Taher Saifullah of Comprehensive Spine & Pain Physicians performed a Spinal Stimulator Implant Procedure.

His patient came in with lower back pain that radiated down through their legs and feet. Two percutaneous leads were placed through epidural needles and driven to the bottom of T7 and the top of T8.

Abbott’s lead device is designed to deliver spinal cord stimulation (SCS) for the treatment of chronic pain, and dorsal root ganglion (DRG) stimulation for patients seeking relief from causalgia — nerve pain following surgery or injury — and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

This device is also the first upgradeable and recharge-free spinal cord stimulation system capable of delivering both tonic stimulation and Abbott’s proprietary BurstDR stimulation waveform, a superior therapy designed to more closely mimic how pain signals travel to the brain.

Abbott’s BurstDR stimulation will be used over a 7 day trial period to relieve the pain on this patient.
