Using Your Body’s Resources for Healing

How Does Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Work?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a non-surgical, virtually painless procedure that uses the existing blood plasma in our body’s to heal damaged tissue. Your blood is drawn and sent through a device called a centrifuge that spins at very high speeds to separate the platelet rich plasma from the rest of the cells. This plasma is now highly concentrated and is then injected into the damaged tissue of the body.

PPR therapy is different than traditional steroid injections which actually promote healing instead of reducing inflammation. Steroid injections only promote healing by reducing the amount of swelling involved which allows the body’s natural healing process. Platelet Rich Plasma therapy on the other hand accelerates the body’s natural healing process which typically yields better results.

If you’ve been experiencing pain or are suffering from an injury, consider PRP therapy and ask a pain management specialist if Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is right for you!
